082. Half Term Sports Camps
Sports programme to leave lasting memories on town’s youngsters
The Doncaster Rovers Community Foundation will be hosting an extravaganza of sporting fun to keep kids entertained during the half term school holidays; through a dovetailed venture with the Keepmoat Stadium and Doncaster Culture and Leisure Trust (DCLT).
The range of programmes across four venues will encompass a wide variety of sports and other fun activities for boys and girls aged between 8 - 16, of any physical ability.
Youngsters can take part in various activities from the All Sports or Ultimate Sports Week timetables which includes everything from ice skating, table tennis, football, cricket, curling, basketball and army training with a real life sergeant - and if that wasn’t enough, a special tour of Manchester City’s Etihad stadium is also available too!
The scheme aims to enthuse and engage youngsters within the region in safe and exciting environments, encouraging group participation and living a healthy lifestyle.
The sports programmes will run at The Keepmoat Stadium, The Dome, Adwick Leisure Centre and Rossington Sports Village from 13 – 17 February.
Colin Harker, acting chief executive of the Stadium Management Company, who run the Keepmoat Stadium, said: “These sports programmes are always fantastic and this February promises to bring some of the best yet!
“In partnership, we are raising the bar with the popular sports camp by providing visits to a world class stadium such as the Etihad hence creating lasting memories for these youngsters.”
Michael Hart, chief executive of DCLT said: “This is the first time we have been involved in Ultimate Sports Week and are looking forward to educating the regions youngsters about keeping fit and living a healthy lifestyle.
Liam Scully, participation manager for the Doncaster Rovers Community Foundation explained: “Each year the school holiday activities on offer, get bigger and better, with more exciting excursions and fun activities to get involved in. Each session will be delivered by our highly skilled team of coaches who are fully insured and CRB checked.
