087. Marina transformed into sports hub thanks to the good sports at DCLT
Kayaking, raft-building and archery are now on offer in Doncaster after a former marina was turned into a new sports hub.
The formerly known Hatfield Water Park has been revamped by new owners Doncaster Culture and Leisure Trust (DCLT) and re-launched as Hatfield Outdoor Activity Centre to host corporate team building days, family outings and children’s parties.
The new outdoor activities venue, located 15 minutes from Doncaster town centre, offers water and land-based activities including climbing, canoeing, orienteering and high and low ropes.
Michael Hart, interim chief executive of Doncaster Culture and Leisure Trust said: “We were delighted to bring The Hatfield Water Park under the DCLT banner and transform it to its former glory as a hub for sports activities with a difference.
“We believe the work done by the DCLT has turned this into one of the region’s best outdoor centres. It is perfect for those who take like a duck to water, want the thrill of an adrenaline filled activity or like to take sport at a slower pace.
“It’s an exciting time for the Trust, local residents and those wanting to travel from outside the region to make the most of the top class facilities and sports equipment we can offer.”
Hatfield Outdoor Activity Centre also boasts onsite accommodation with en-suite bathrooms for group bookings and a 49-pitch campsite with full amenities and electric hook-ups.
