Leisure Pools

CHILDREN UNDER 8

Children under 8 years old must be accompanied by a swimming adult on a 2 children to 1 adult basis

CHILDREN UNDER 4

Children under 4 years old must be accompanied by a swimming adult on a 1 child to 1 adult basis.

  • All weak swimmers under 8 must wear buoyancy aids at all times unless they are closely supervised by a responsible adult aged 16 years or over.
  • A weak or non-swimmer is defined as any child who does not hold or meet the criteria of the ASA/ISRM Pool Swimming Standard Award.
  • Weak or non-swimmers are restricted to the designated non swimmer areas of the pools which are the small pool and shallow end of the main pool.
  • Anyone with known medical conditions, or accompanying anyone with medical conditions, that may affect their safety, should inform the receptionist at the point of sale.
  • Customers with epilepsy must be accompanied by a responsible adult (aged 16 and over) on a one to one basis. They should inform the receptionist at the point of sale.

Big Splash
1. Children under the age of 4 must be accompanied by a responsible person (aged 16 or over) on a one to one basis.
2. Children aged 4 - 7 years must be accompanied by a responsible person (aged 16 or over) on a maximum ratio of one adult to two children.
3. All under eights or weak swimmers will be required to wear a specific entrance band to ensure they are easily identified.

Chill Swim, Off Peak Swim, Early Risers

  1. Children under the age of 8 must be accompanied by a responsible person (aged 16 or over) on a maximum ratio of one adult to two children.
    2. Any weak swimmers over 8 must be banded to identify them clearly to the Lifeguards

Private Hire
1. Children under the age of 4 must be accompanied by a responsible person (aged 16 or over) on a one to one basis.
2. Children aged 4-7 years must be accompanied by a responsible person (aged 16 or over) on a maximum ratio of one adult to two children.
3. Any weak swimmers over 8 must be banded to identify them clearly to the Lifeguards

Please note the safety of all children under the age of eight is the responsibility of the supervising adult in attendance at all times. When supervising, the adult must maintain a constant watch over the children and be in close contact at all times.  This also applies to the pools ancillary areas e.g. Change and toilet facilities.
