Centre Facilities & Accessibility
Activities & Facilities
This leisure center offers both swimming and a wellbeing suite which runs low-intensity circuits.
For convenience, there are changing facilities, including a dedicated Changing Places facility, as well as lockers, showers, and toilets.
Additionally, the swimming area is well-equipped with a viewing gallery for spectators and multiple accessibility options, such as a pool pod, pool lift, and graduated steps, ensuring the pool is accessible to all.
Guests can also take advantage of free on-site parking.
Askern Country Park Cafe on site provides a place to grab a bite to eat, which is open at weekends and bank holidays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Outside of these times, the centre pod is open, serving hot and cold drinks and snacks.
Christmas/New Year opening times:
The cafe will be closing for a short break from Monday, 15th December, and re-opening for the weekend of Saturday, 10th & Sunday, 11th January 2026.
Decarbonisation Project
The refurbishment of Askern Leisure Centre was not just about updating infrastructure but also about enhancing community well-being.
The centre re-opened in February 2023 and the £6m investment in the centre has seen the old coal heating system replaced with a more environmentally friendly and sustainable water heating solution, as well a new roof, windows, and doors to make the venue more energy efficient.
You can read here how the country’s last coal-fired leisure centre was developed into a wellbeing centre for the local community, integrated within a country park and powered by green energy
Accessibility
The centre has wide entrance doors (99cm) and a lift to help you move between floors.
There are also designated disabled car parking bays.
For those with hearing impairments, a hearing loop is available in our wellbeing studios, and we have portable hearing aid devices at reception.
When it comes to the pool, we have accessible stairs and a pool hoist. We also have a pool pod to make getting in and out of the water even easier.
You'll find a Changing Places facility for those with complex needs, as well as an accessible viewing area for spectators.
