Activities & Facilities

The Thorne Wellbeing & Leisure Hub offers an aquatic experience for swimmers of all ages and abilities. Our main Swimming Pool is ideal for lane swimming, fitness, and general public sessions, providing a great space to exercise or simply enjoy the water. For beginners and young children, Swimming lessons offers teaching perfect for building confidence and learning to swim in a safe, fun setting.

Within our changing village, you'll find modern changing rooms with private cubicles, as well as plenty of lockers to store your belongings. Clean showers and toilets are also available. Spectators can watch from the dedicated swimming viewing gallery, which provides a great vantage point without needing to be on the poolside.

Building works

We are thrilled to announce a major step forward in our redevelopment project! Phase 1 is now fully complete, marking a significant milestone in our journey to modernise the centre for the community. This initial phase has delivered fantastic new facilities, including a fully-refurbished pool that is now open for you to enjoy. We've also introduced brand-new, modernised changing areas designed for greater comfort and accessibility, along with a revitalised main entrance that provides a more welcoming and efficient gateway to the centre.

Building on this success, we are excited to confirm that Phase 2 is now officially underway and will continue throughout 2025. This next stage of the project will focus on the extensive transformation of the former sports hall. Our goal is to reimagine this space and fill it with a wide range of new activities and amenities, all consolidated into a single, comprehensive hub. We are committed to creating a dynamic and inclusive space that truly benefits our community by bringing all these exciting new offerings together under one roof.

Accessibility

We are committed to providing a fully accessible and convenient experience for everyone who visits the pool. The hub offers dedicated disabled access throughout, ensuring a smooth journey from the entrance to the poolside. For those with complex needs, we provide a Changing Places toilet with specialist equipment. For entering and exiting the water, our pools are equipped with both graduated steps for gentle, walk-in access and a Pool Lift to provide secure, mechanical assistance.
