Our lessons are based on the Skate UK recognised Learn to Skate programme starting from level 1 progressing up to level 6.
Starting July 2024
Suitable for complete beginners through to those with some experience, for children and young people from age 4.

Our skilled instructors we'll ensure children have fun whilst learning and improving on their skating skills. They’ll soon learn the basics of skating, from standing confidently on the ice to spinning and gliding like a pro!
- Monthly direct debit for 50 weeks a year
- Ice skate hire included
- Free recreational skating included Monday to Friday, to allow learners to practice their moves!
Lessons are held on Tuesday and Thursday from 4pm-8pm at the Dome.

Skate Tots
Skate Tots is a great way for young children to start their ice skating journey. Broken down into three levels that will gradually grow their skills and confidence, this fun and friendly programme offers a solid and safe foundation for kids 4+.
DISCOVERING LESSONS (LEVEL 1-3) 6+
Levels 1-3 are the “Discovering” Skill Phase which encompasses the skating skills required to progress onto the “Developing” Phase levels 4-6. By the end of this Discovering Phase skaters will have a knowledge of forward and backward skating, forward and backward stopping and a clear understanding of edges and how to use them.
Level 1 is advised for children age 6+
Adult classes will also follow the Skate UK levels 1-6.

LEVEL ONE
- Moving forward
- Sit & stand independantly
- Moving forward (10 steps) & two foot glide (with dip)
- Stationary snowplough stop
- Moving forward snowplough stop
- Moving forward (10 steps) & two foot glide into forward lemon
- Introduction to moving backwards

LEVEL TWO
- Moving forward 10 steps - curve left & right
- Moving snowplough stop or t-stop
- Moving backwards (toes turned in)
- Two-foot turns on the spot (twisting action)
- Forward & backward lemons (minimum 5)
- Introduction to forward one foot glide in a straight line

LEVEL THREE
- Forward stroking (with correct push, glide and free leg position)
- Backward snowplough stop
- Forward to backward two-foot turns
- Forward outside & inside edges one foot glides
- Forward two-foot slalmon
- Introduction to backward stroking
DEVELOPING LESSONS (LEVEL 4-6)
Levels 4-6 are the “Developing” Skill Phase that encompasses the skating skills required to progress to the “Consolidating” Skill Phase levels 7-8. On completion of this Developing Phase skaters will have a working knowledge of forward and backward stroking, forward and backward crossovers and an understanding of transitioning from forward to backward and backward to forward.
Adult classes will also follow the Skate UK levels 1-6.
