Children’s gymnastics lessons launch at The Dome

Budding young gymnasts across Doncaster can look forward to new lessons set to launch at The Dome this month (January 2026).

Registration is now open for The Dome’s Choose Gymnastics programme, which gets underway on Monday 12 and Tuesday 13 January and follows British Gymnastics ‘Explore’ curriculum, giving children aged five to 11-years-old the chance to develop fundamental gymnastic skills in a fun and engaging environment.

The programme is structured around three key sections: core skills, working together, and apparatus work. Young gymnasts will learn fundamental moves including rolls, balances and handstands, through progressive skill development that allows them to move forward at their own pace and ability.

Parents and guardians can track their child’s progress through a dedicated digital ‘Parent Portal’, providing real-time updates on skills achieved and milestones reached. Gymnasts can also achieve medals and certificates during the programme.

Chris Wright, head of health and leisure at Doncaster Culture and Leisure Trust (DCLT), which operates The Dome, said: “We’re excited to be bringing the British Gymnastics ‘Explore’ programme to The Dome, giving budding gymnasts from across the city the chance to come and learn core skills in a safe and supportive environment.”

The arrival of Choose Gymnastics at The Dome marks the third DCLT venue to offer the programme, following Adwick Leisure Complex and Dearne Valley Leisure Centre

Chris added: “Gymnastics is a really fun and engaging way for young children to get active and build strong physical skills. We can’t wait to welcome The Dome’s first Choose Gymnastics members in the new year!”

Classes will run on Mondays and Tuesdays between 4pm and 8pm, with each session lasting one hour. Membership costs £25.50 per month. For further information and to register, visit www.choosegymnastics.co.uk
