Swimming Teacher Training Courses

Turn your passion for swimming into a rewarding career with DCLT. We’re offering training opportunities to help you gain recognised qualifications and make a difference by helping others develop a skill for life.

STA Level 2 Swimming Teacher Course

Train to teach swimmers of all ages and abilities, from beginners to confident adult swimmers. Help people build confidence, improve their health and develop essential water safety skills.

Course requirements
You must be at least 16 when the course starts. All prerequisites, online learning and lesson plans must be completed before the course begins. Post-course submissions are not accepted.

Course cost: £250 (normally £550), subject to successful selection, signing an indemnity agreement and working for DCLT.

Dates: 7, 8, 14, 15 and 21 November 2026
Time: 8am–4pm
Location: Adwick Wellbeing and Leisure Hub, Doncaster

The course includes online learning, so reliable internet access is essential.

STA Babies and Preschool Swimming Teacher Course

Help babies and young children develop confidence in the water through fun, songs and encouragement. This rewarding qualification will equip you to support young swimmers and their accompanying adults.

Course cost: Free (valued at £395 plus membership), subject to a commitment to work for DCLT and signing an indemnity agreement.

Dates: 30 November, 1 and 2 December 2026
Time: 9am–5pm each day
Location: The Dome, Bawtry Road, Doncaster, DN4 7PD

Pool Lifeguard Course

Start your career in leisure with DCLT

Looking for a new career where you can make a difference? Join Doncaster Culture and Leisure Trust (DCLT) as a Leisure Assistant / Lifeguard and gain your Pool Lifeguard Qualification.

We’re offering a training opportunity to help you take the first step towards a rewarding career in leisure, supporting people to enjoy swimming safely.

Course requirements

Candidates must be at least 16 years old on the last date of the course to complete the qualification,

Course dates and times

The course will take place over two Fridays and two weekends:

Friday 20 November: 4pm–8pm
Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 November: 8am–4pm
Friday 27 November: 4pm–8pm
Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 November: 8am–4pm

Course cost and funding

The course costs £250, but funded places may be available for eligible applicants.

Casual Level 2 British Gymnastics Instructors at Sites Across the City

Location: Trustwide - Leisure
Salary: £22.50 per hour
Experience: Level 2 British Gymnastics Instructor Certificate or British Gymnastics Activity Instructor (GAI)

We're looking for casual Gymnastics Instructors to deliver RISE Gymnastics lessons at sites across the Trust. You will need to hold a Level 2 British Gymnastics Instructor Certificate or British Gymnastics Activity Instructor(GAI) or equivalent.

Salary: National Minimum Wage- dependant on age
Experience: L2 Fitness/Gym Instructor qualification or equivalent required as a minimum

Doncaster Culture & Leisure Trust (DCLT), are looking for Fitness Instructors with a can-do attitude.

Salary: £14.50 - £18.50 per hour dependant on qualification

We are looking for Level 2 Swim Teachers to deliver outstanding swimming lessons on a casual basis across the City of Doncaster. You will need to hold a level 2 qualification in teaching swimming.
